He went to AA and is a "buddy" or whatever they are. When they feel like a drink there is always someone there to talk to and help in the fight.

Good Luck it's a hard road as you know. some in my family have had it chronic and mostly survive by staying teetotal. My uncle is 50 years dry now.

Good luck longford, heroine is banned in Iceland, not only by the law but also on the streets, if you sell it here you get seriously beat up by the "Icelandic mafia"

I've asked me the question and the answer is yes and I know what to do

Good luck mate

Re: Anyone on here who has experienced drug addiction recovery?
probably against my better judgement putting this on here...

im on the last few weeks of a methadone programme , after a 10 year heroin addiction ..

so looking foward to being clean for the first time in all that time. which i will be by october

there is no easy way arpund it , you have got to want it ... ask yourself the question " do i want to be clean" ? if the aswers yes , you know what you have to do.

i was fortune , i met a girl who loves me and has given me a reason to get off the shit.

that said i still have a bender once every four months or so , but not on the brown...

decide what you want to do , then do it. its not that simple , but it kind of is that simple..

good luck

Lot of anxiety there Barty.

And you certainly didn’t lose your mind.
It went hyperactive, which is what you would expect with the mania stage of bipolar.

Keep working on it with the support people. You seem like a top geezer and lovely person.

Not had a lot of experience personally and this may not be for you. I am a keen age group triathlete. A guy joined a few years back who was a openly recovering drug addict and had been in a dark place for a long time. At the time he could hardly swim and was over weight and therefore not particularly good at swimming or running. He had set himself a target - to complete an Ironman (Full distance) - he needed something to replace the drugs and this became swimming/running/cycling. This summer he achieved his target and I have massive respect for him, it was an awesome achievement when you look at there he started from. In his own words triathlon saved him and the process of training took his mind off his addiction and helped him get clean in the process. Also being part of an active Tri club where each week he would join various training sessions that would really push him helped massively.

Re: Anyone on here who has experienced drug addiction recovery?
and it worked while I was using drugs too so I thought I could use forever without problems because I´ve never felt better after beginning on this abilify....

But then one day ca 17 days ago I just got sick of it all and want a normal life and a wife and kids and sober forever.

Haven´t got a craving for any mind altering drug since

Barty 1:36 Tue Jul 9
Re: Anyone on here who has experienced drug addiction recovery?
I didn´t get the medication abilify until after the incident in 2017

Alot of drugs were tested on me before until I got the right one that works for me

overlap? What does that mean?

Re: Anyone on here who has experienced drug addiction recovery?
Interesting, I’m adhd and my sister is bi-polar, I often wonder if she has been misdiagnosed as she shows a lot of adhd behaviours. But from what you’re saying there is a bit of an overlap?

Re: Anyone on here who has experienced drug addiction recovery?
I remember some of it H&P

I´m gonna be brutally honest here now.

I thought I was either Lucifer, Thor the thundergod or the Messiah lol I didn´t know exactly who, funny story when I thought I was Thor I thought Putin was my brother Loko hhaahhaha

I got messages from music. Ithought Eminem was rapping about me for example! But I´ve listened to him for most of his career or since I was 15. But I got "messages" from other music too, from other rappers and techno music. Hard to describe really

I was in a full mania with illusions for a few months which created a very deep suicidal depression for more than a year after but I was in the mental hospital for 11 months, worst time of my life, I was in mania at the hospital for 2 months at least! and they had to call the police on me to hold me town and put spme poison in my veins....... terrible times

It was a bit different in 2017 then I was in paranoja that some Polish guys where spying on me and there were cameras everywhere (there werent any) and they were planning to kill me I thought so my plan was to kill at least one Plish guy before I died, when I told somebody that the squat came and kicked down the door and put me to the hospital and that´s when I got my blessing the abilify..

Well that´s a short version, just recently woke up, so might explain it further later. Any other questions mate?

IRegards: The crazy addict West Ham supporter from Iceland ;)

Barty

This is a big question, I don't expect an answer and I'm genuinely curious:

What happened when you lost your mind?

Do you remember?

Barty 1:28 Tue Jul 9
Re: Anyone on here who has experienced drug addiction recovery?

bruuuno 11:16 Mon Jul 8

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was a teen, but I lost my mind in 2016 and was put into a mental hospital and the doctor there said it was a wrong diagnosis and diagnosed me with bipolar disorder.

When you are bipolar you are either full of energy or very depressed so when I got into a mania (full of energy) they thought I was with ADHD.

Then in october 2017 I lost my mind again after heavy drug use and was put in a drugmental hospital and there I got the right medication it´s called Abilify and has completely transformed my life to the better havent´t felt any symtoms of the bipolar disorder since.

Abilify was created in Japan in 1992 or 3 so I can thank the Japanese for my mental health! I´m gonna visit Japan one day for sure because of this.

Re: Anyone on here who has experienced drug addiction recovery?
Also consider whether you may have adhd. People with adhd lack dopamine and drugs produce dopamine so lots of druggies are self medicating without realising it.

If you do have it they will give you free billy for life on the NHS

Re: Anyone on here who has experienced drug addiction recovery?
I can relate to that it´s hard to be still and do nothing, there is somekind of void which can be filled with drugs because then it´s "fun" to do nothing

If that makes sense, it does to me

Gavros 1:44 Mon Jul 8
Re: Anyone on here who has experienced drug addiction recovery?
I agree, its incredibly difficult to train your mind to be still. We are made to anticipate the future, its what sets us apart from most other animals and its also what gives us mental complications.

It's quite amazing how the brain cries for your attention, sitting doing and thinking of nothing is a lot harder than people think.
